Travel Diary: Where to stay in Koh Chang?

Of all my travels, I can say these accommodations that I booked in Koh Chang is the most perfect by far I experienced. I am so glad and super happy to find these two resorts online and totally did not hesitate to reserve a room. There’s a lot of hotels and resorts in Koh Chang from budget-friendly to luxury type, so I decided to stay in a budget resort for our first night which is The Stage Koh Chang and to a luxurious resort for our second night Aana resort.

I booked our room through Booking.com, which were I always booked my accommodations when I’m traveling. I got the Cottage King Room with Pool View for only 1,850 THB. The first glance of the pictures on their website, I am totally in love already, because the rooms are in front of the swimming pool, which is so amazing. When we arrived in the resort, it is just so easy to find, it is located in 19/19/1 Moo 4 Tumbol Koh Chang, Amphoe Koh Chang, Kai Bae Beach, 23170 Ko Chang, just beside the main road. The location of the resort is just a walk away to the shops and restaurants. The staff is very hospitable, when we checked-in they are so friendly, and even escorted us to our room. And when we checked out on the following day, they let us leave our bags in their reception area and be back to collect it. Our room includes breakfast and Wi-Fi, the breakfast is not a huge buffet breakfast, it's just a basic breakfast, waffles, eggs, fruits, bread, coffee and juices and many more. Nearby, the breakfast area is the beautiful view of the mountains, which is so peaceful to look at during the morning. They also have motorbike for rent for only 250 THB per day, which is cheap already compare to other shops. The swimming pool which I’m so excited to dive in is unexpectedly deep, which I did not expect at all. I did not enjoy the pool much because I honestly don’t know how to swim LOL!.  Anyways, they have floaty in the pool.

Let’s talk about inside the room, I love how the windows of the room are facing the swimming pool, It’s the perfect view. The room is equipped with amenities except for toothbrush and toothpaste. I’m not sure if it's not included or they just forgot to place it, anyways, we just bought our own in the nearby 7-11 store. The room is clean and spacious, the bed is soft however the pillows are a bit huge, I’m not a fan of the huge pillow. The bathroom is clean and pretty decent. All in all, I love The Stage Koh Chang resort, I highly recommend this resort if you are looking for middle budget friendly accommodation in Koh Chang.

Of all the luxurious resorts that I’ve been to, by far Aana resort is my favorite. This resort offers a lot of services and some of them are free, which is so worth the money. I booked our One-Bedroom Villa with Plunge Pool through Booking.com for one night for THB 4,016.25. Aana resort is located at 19/2 Klong Praow Beach, Koh Chang, Trat, Klong Prao Beach, 23170 Ko Chang, Thailand. It’s not situated on the main road but the resort offers a free shuttle service from and to the area where the restaurants and shops are (I honestly forgot the name). Anyways, one of the biggest reason why I choose this resort is their Villa with own private plunge pool, which is affordable compared to other Villas that has its own pool.

The staffs are honestly hospitable and very friendly, when we arrive in the resort, they immediately greeted us and offer us tasty refreshments. The check-in is very organized and very informative, the receptionist explained to us all their services, facilities and amenities. What I love with their services are most of them are totally FREE. They have free breakfast, free shuttle service to and from the place where the shops and restaurants are, free firefly tour, free kayak, free boat transfer from and to their sand bar. They also have a restaurant, spa, pool bar, and dinner by the boat which is not free of course. Anyways, I can say that all those free services are worth the money I paid for the Villa.

The Villa is so beautiful, spacious and clean, I love the interior design, it feels like a monastery. The room is complete with amenities, from coffee and tea, water, drinks and chips, bathrobe, umbrella, towels, beach towels, beach bag, slipper, outside slipper and so many more. I'm so impressed that they made an effort to place a bottle of body lotion (I think it’s their own product) in their bathroom aside from the usual shower amenities. And my favorite part of the Villa is our own plunge pool and a spacious veranda with a beautiful view of the mountain. This is totally priced less, the view of the mountain is so green, peaceful and relaxing.

We enjoyed our own plunge pool, the resort hilltop pool and their main pool in our afternoon session. By the way, their main pool is also a bar pool. They have their own mini-mart inside the resort, but it’s quite expensive, it's better to buy outside the resort. Around 8:00 PM we headed to their restaurant which is the Cinnamon restaurant, to experience their free firefly tour. Unfortunately, the tour did not meet my expectations at all, I was expecting like thousands of them, like Christmas lights but there is nothing like that. I saw only 6 little fireflies in the middle of the darkness in a river. I was a little bit scared during this tour, because it’s really dark and who knows, there might something out there from the water to jump into us, LOL, like a crocodile perhaps? But anyways, the tour lasted only for 10 minutes and we get back to the restaurant. We had our dinner at the same restaurant because it is situated in the river side of the resort, the price is expectedly high, of course, it’s a resort, the taste is okay, I still love the Tom yum soup in Monkey restaurant at Kai Bae beach. On the next and our last day, we had our free buffet breakfast, my most awaited part of staying a hotel and a resort. A lot of choices indeed, and it was all tasty and presented well. We just enjoy the resort on our last hours, we did not get the chance anymore to Kayak and swim in their own sand bar beach as we don’t have enough time.

Of all my travels in Thailand by far, Koh Chang is the first place that wanted me to come back, it's so peaceful, beautiful, easy to go around, affordable, and there’s a lot of places to visit, and if I will come back in Koh Chang, I would love to stay again in Aana Resort.

That’s it with you loves my recommendations if you are looking for middle price range accommodations in Koh Chang, which is totally worth the penny. I hope you like my review and I hope it helps you as well if you are planning to visit Koh Chang. My full itinerary of 3 days and 2 nights in Koh Chang will be posted next week, so keep posted and follow me around in my social media accounts.
